Coldstream FTO+ filter flushing protocol and tank cleaning
Flushing of FTO+ filters before installation
1. Initial preparation:
- Rinse each filter under a stream of cold water for 2 minutes.
- Use a soft dishwashing sponge or lightly scratchy microfiber to gently clean the outer surface of the filters. This allows any residues to be removed without damaging the ceramic.
2. Installing the filters:
- Carefully screw the filters into the top bowl of your system.
- Make sure the silicone seals are properly positioned to prevent leakage.
Flushing the complete system
1. First filtration cycles:
- Fill the top bowl with clean water.
- Allow the water to filter completely into the lower bowl.
Important: Discard this water after each cycle, as it may contain particles from the manufacture of the filters.
2. Recommended number of cycles:
- Repeat this process for 2 to 3 full cycles. This ensures that all manufacturing residues are removed.
Tank cleaning
1. Upper and lower tank:
- Clean the tubs thoroughly with a soft sponge or slightly abrasive microfiber, and warm soapy water.
- Rinse the tubs thoroughly to remove any traces of soap or residue.
2. Cleaning frequency:
- Clean the tanks at least once a month or more frequently if you observe deposits or residues.
Important note on ceramic residues
• The ceramic residues observed in the first filtration cycles are not harmful to health.
• These inert particles, from the filter manufacturing process, are completely safe for human consumption.
Additional information
• This protocol effectively removes the ceramic taste or any residue from the manufacture of the filters.
• Once these steps are completed, your filtered water will be clean, tasteless and residue-free.
