WHAT DOES THE CTO MAX CERAMIC WATER PURIFIER REMOVE FROM WATER?

Testing and verification (CF1075W)

Envirotek Laboratories Report No. 17-290 (2017-2018), performed on the CF504W cartridge according to NSF/ANSI protocols 42, 53, and P231. The CF1075W, delivered today, has the same formulation according to the KLT Filtration attestation below. Results measured at 4,000 L, which exceeds the rated capacity (3,000 L), unless otherwise noted:

  • A cartridge tested in the laboratory

The Coldstream CTO MAX (CF1075W) cartridge has been tested according to NSF/ANSI standards 42, 53 and P231 by Envirotek Laboratories (USA). Nominal capacity: 3,000 liters or 6 months, whichever comes first. Results measured at 4,000 L (bacteria, viruses and cysts: 3,000 and 4,500 L), exceeding the nominal capacity of 3,000 L. These results include:

    • Bacteria: more than 99.9999% reduction (Klebsiella terrigena)
    • Virus: more than 99.99% (rotavirus)
    • Free chlorine: 2.15 mg/L to less than 0.1 mg/L, i.e. at least 95%
    • Chloramine: 3.10 mg/L to less than 0.1 mg/L, or at least 96%
    • Lead: 152 μg/L to less than 1 μg/L outlet to 4,000 L, a reduction of at least 99% (NSF/ANSI 53 limit: 10 μg/L)
    • Mercury: 6.1 μg/L to less than 1 μg/L outlet to 4,000 L, a reduction of at least 83% (NSF/ANSI 53 limit: 2 μg/L)
    • Nitrates: 95.6% reduction (from 27.5 to 1.2 mg/L, measured at 4,000 L)
    • Pesticides and herbicides, including glyphosate, atrazine and lindane: more than 99% at 4,000 L
    • Pharmaceutical residues, including ciprofloxacin, carbamazepine and estradiol: >98% at 4,000 L
    • Volatile organic compounds, including benzene and trichloroethylene: >99% at 4,000 L

Partial reduction for certain metals: arsenic (78 to 94%) and nickel (45 to 96%), depending on the volume filtered.

Cartridge testing in a Coldstream system, under standard laboratory conditions: Actual performance may vary. For use with cold water only. The Flow Tap filters the water that supplies your tap (utility, cistern or well). If the origin of the water is uncertain: clear water, with no suspected accidental or industrial pollution, and according to the instructions.

Note on nitrates and nitrites

Envirotek report n° 17-290, carried out on the CF504W (the CF1075W has the same wording according to the KLT Filtration certificate):

  • Nitrates: from 27 mg/L to less than 0.1 mg/L at the outlet at 3,000 L; 1.2 mg/L at 4,000 L (95.6%); 3.1 mg/L at 6,000 L (88.7%).
  • Nitrites: 3.00 mg/L to less than 0.01 mg/L at the outlet up to 6,000 L (at least 99.6%).

These results were obtained on the laboratory's test water. This cartridge is not presented as a specific nitrate treatment. If your water is heavily loaded with nitrates, especially for preparing bottles, have it analyzed and go for a dedicated treatment.

COLDSTREAM MAX WATER PURIFIER TESTING AND VERIFICATION:

Coldstream Max filters have undergone rigorous testing programs via an independent testing laboratory and independent audits without prior notice to ensure manufacturing compliance.

They have been successfully tested according to the following standards and methods:

  • NSF/ANSI 42 Standard for Aesthetic Effects
  • NSF/ANSI 53 Health Effects Standard
  • NSF P231 for Microbiological Purifiers
  • EPA Method 200.8 (USA) for the determination of the presence of metals and trace elements in water and waste
  • EPA Method 505-2.1 (USA) for the Analysis of Organic Pesticides and Commercial Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB) Products in Water
  • EPA Method 508.1-2 (USA) for Chlorinated Pesticides, Herbicides and Organohalides in Water by GCECD
  • EPA Method 515-2 (USA) for Chlorinated Acids
  • EPA Method 524-2 (USA) for the Measurement of Organic Compounds Purging in Water
  • EPA Method 525-2 (USA) for Organic Compounds in Drinking Water

– Reduction of viruses (rotavirus) >99.99% at 3,000 and 4,500 L

– Reduction of bacteria (Klebsiella terrigena) >99.9999%

– Cyst reduction (Cryptosporidium) >99.9%

– Reduction of many heavy metals, VOCs, pesticides, drug residues, chlorine, etc. (see performance sheet for details)

Recommended for public utility water or disinfected water that may contain residual microbiological contaminants. This filter is not intended to make water that is microbiologically hazardous or of completely unknown origin drinkable without prior disinfection.
