Coldstream FTO+ filters are manufactured in the UK and their components comply with the European REACH regulation (EC No. 1907/2006), ensuring the traceability and compliance of the substances used in their manufacture.
We recommend replacing them every 6 months. Activated carbon, once the device is put into operation, has an effective duration of 6 months.
Coldstream FTO+ filters can be stored for several years without losing their filtration performance, as long as they have never been in contact with water.
Unlike some products whose properties degrade over time, a new Coldstream filter remains fully effective if stored in the right conditions.
To find out more, read our dedicated article: Coldstream Filter Storage.
Although Coldstream requires more frequent cartridge replacement (every 6 months), this offers the benefit of ensuring consistently effective filtration and water quality is maintained.
For an average consumption of 8 liters per day, we advise you to install 2 Coldstream cartridges in your gravity water purifier and keep the other 2 as replacement cartridges. This way you ensure a year of autonomy in drinking and healthy water.

The tests were conducted in accordance with NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53 and P231 by IAPMO R&T (NJ), New Jersey USA, EPA ID #NJ01298 NJ DEP ID #03048 IAPMO ID #102, in compliance with all requirements set forth in the N.J.A.C. 7:9E and the N.J.A.C. 7:18.
Their laboratory is in compliance with all laboratory certification procedures and requirements, quality control set out in the N.J.A.C. 7:18; the NYCRR Subpart 55-2, the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) standards, and the ISO 17025 standard.
The filter was tested using a Coldstream system to NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53, and P231 for the reduction of the listed substances. The concentration of substances in the water was reduced to a value less than or equal to the limit for the water leaving the system, as specified in NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53, and P231.
