Frequently asked questions about filtration testing and Pure Filters systems
How the water purifier works Pure Filters ? ?
How water purifiers work Pure Filters, equipped with filters Coldstream FTO+, is based on a simple but effective principle: water is poured into an upper tank, then passes through one or more gravity purifying filters before being collected in a lower, ready-to-eat tank.

These filters, composed of activated carbon and ceramic, remove a diverse range of contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, heavy metals, and harmful chemicals, including PFAS, herbicides, and pesticides, as well as nitrates and fluoride.
Using the force of gravity, water is pushed through the pores of the filter, providing filtration without the need for electricity or external pressure. This process ensures an ecological and economical purification of drinking water, resulting in clean, impurity-free water that is ready for direct consumption.
The filtration process of Coldstream water filters is carried out on demand, which means that there is no storage of filtered water, ensuring freshness and quality of the water every time.
These filters are subject to Independent Testing to ensure their efficiency and performance, making them a convenient and cost-effective solution for achieving high-quality drinking water, whether you use tap water or other sources.

What accessories will be provided and what will the water purifier be made of? Pure Filters ? ?
The water purifier Pure Filters Includes:
- 2 cartridges FTO+ Coldstream
- 2 steel tanks (the high tank is designed with a reinforcement for easy lifting)
- 1 x Steel Faucet
- 1 x Steel Lid
- 1 rubber base to ensure its stability

Available in three sizes: Voyager 6L, , Home 9L and Family 12L.
How are Coldstream FTO+ filters manufactured ?
Coldstream uses an innovative manufacturing method for its filters, which is based on high-pressure casting of ceramics.
This technique makes it possible to produce filters with an extremely fine and uniform porous structure, significantly improving their ability to remove contaminants from water such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, heavy metals and chemicals.
The high-pressure process ensures that the filter media, usually a mixture of ceramic and activated carbon, is compacted in a way that maximizes the filtration surface while maintaining optimal porosity. This allows Coldstream filters to offer excellent filtration performance, long life and high efficiency in reducing contaminants, while maintaining an acceptable water flow.
By incorporating state-of-the-art technologies and high-quality materials into their manufacturing process, Coldstream ensures that its filters meet the highest standards of water purification.

What contaminants filter out Coldstream FTO+ cartridges ?
Based on tests and studies, Coldstream products have proven to be among the most effective in removing a wide range of contaminants from water, even surpassing many reverse osmosis systems.
They filter a variety of substances such as Chlorine, , pesticides, heavy metals, PFAS, nitrates, drug residues, and many more.
Filters Coldstream FTO+ stand out for their effectiveness, in particular for their ability to significantly reduce the presence of nitrate and fluoride in water.
The tests were carried out on several thousand litres of water, which guarantees their reliability.

Why do we guarantee 1,500 liters per pair of filters ?
Coldstream filters have been tested to treat up to 3,000 liters with 4 filters under laboratory conditions. However, to ensure consistency in the decontamination of chemical contaminants and heavy metals, we recommend replacing each pair of filters after 1,500 liters.
The total capacity depends on the number of filters used at the same time:
• 2 filters: Recommended capacity of 1,500 liters.
• 4 filters: Recommended capacity of 3,000 liters.
• 6 filters: Recommended capacity of 4,500 liters.
• 8 filters: Recommended capacity of 6,000 liters.
By following these recommendations, you ensure that the water is always clean and healthy, with optimal filtration performance.
Note: The use of activated carbon in filters involves replacing the cartridges every 6 months, regardless of the amount of filtered water, to ensure optimal filtration.
Why does activated charcoal need to be replaced every 6 months ?
Activated carbon is a powerful material for removing chemical contaminants, pesticides, solvents, and other unwanted substances from water.
However, its performance decreases over time for several reasons:
1. Natural pore saturation: Activated charcoal works by trapping contaminants in its microscopic pores. Over time, these pores become saturated, gradually reducing its ability to filter effectively.
2. Limited chemical and physical stability: After several months of use, prolonged exposure to water may affect the chemical and physical stability of activated carbon. This natural evolution can alter its ability to maintain constant filtration.
3. Environmental factors: Conditions of use, such as humidity and temperature variations, can accelerate the aging of activated carbon, warranting regular replacement to ensure optimal performance.
4. Maintain consistent quality: Filtration standards (such as NSF/ANSI 42 and 53) and manufacturer testing recommend replacement every 6 months to maintain consistency in filtration and avoid a gradual decrease in efficiency.
By replacing the activated carbon every 6 months, you can ensure that the water is always clean and healthy, with stable performance, in accordance with filtration standards.
And what about limestone ?
The water purifier Pure Filters, equipped with its cartridges Coldstream FTO+, does not filter limestone.
For areas where limescale is abundant, we recommend cleaning the filters more regularly. It is recommended to clean every 1 to 2 months.
What if I'm worried about the quality of the water filtered by my Pure Filters ? ?
If you have any doubts about the quality of the water filtered by your system Pure Filters, start by performing a thorough cleaning of your system, paying special attention to the low bowl, the high bowl, and the faucet.
Secondly, it is strongly recommended that the samples and water analysis be taken by an accredited laboratory, as a sampling carried out at home could lead to cross-contamination.
If the problem persists, you can contact customer service Pure Filters for additional guidance or to consider replacing filters.
How do I test the water filtered by my system? Pure Filters in a laboratory ?
To ensure reliable results when analyzing the water filtered by your system Pure Filters, follow these steps:
Contact an accredited laboratory: Choose a laboratory that specializes in drinking water analysis and follows a strict protocol and can handle 100% sample collection under sterile conditions.
Laboratory sampling: It is recommended that the entire sample collection be entrusted to the laboratory. Even with a sterile vial, home handling can introduce contaminants. The laboratory will take all the necessary precautions to guarantee contamination-free sampling.
Sample transport : If the laboratory is in charge of the collection, it will follow the protocols to transport the samples without altering their quality, thus ensuring the reliability of the results.
Analysis of the results : The laboratory will test your water for contaminants such as bacteria, heavy metals, or other substances that may be present. You will then receive a detailed report on the quality of your filtered water.
Why is it important to read the articles and lab results of the filters you buy ?
Whether you are using a Pure Filters, it is essential to consult the laboratory reports and articles regarding the filters you purchase. This information ensures that the filters meet your specific needs by removing contaminants such as bacteria, heavy metals, chemicals, viruses, and more.
